FACT:
RMS Titanic is in better condition than this truck
So here we are in 2022. The Ranger has reached 60k, and has officially become the worst car I have ever owned.
Everyone loves to look at it and I love to drive it. But, I don't trust it further than the end of the road.
It's nearly 10 years old now, but has an easy life. 60k... that is nothing, yet it is sitting in my driveway on axle stands yet again.
Currently, then exhaust system has split at the flexible connection. Every time it does a DPF regen, I get smoked out.
The list of failures of this appalling piece of engineering (I use that word through gritted teeth) is becoming epic.
After today's inspection underneath, it's apparent I also need 4x new shock absorbers, as they are biblically corroded.
When they take the oil sump off, I will get Ford to replace the oil pump as well. These have a history of failure.

- Gearbox total failure at 27k. Complete rebuild out of warranty of course.
- Oil leak on the crank seal. Ford had 3 attempts at that.
- Oil leak from the oil cooler.
- Weeping from the front diff seals
- Dashboard gauge cluster Led's fail. Changed 8 so far (SMD soldering and patience required!)
- Fuel gauge lighting flickered randomly (bad PCB)
- Heater lighting failed.
- DPF regen failed. Went into limp mode. Replaced the fuel vaporiser after MUCH fluffing around trying to find the problem.
- Exhaust system failed on the flexible pipe (rusted through). Needs whole Catalytic converter and flexible pipe section.
- Oil pan totally rusted through. Needs replacing which involves lifting engine/dropping sub-frame
- Front discs and pads replaced (wear and tear)
- Brake system leaking from solenoid connection to the booster
- Chassis and all the suspension arms very badly rusted
- Front lower valance rusted through
- Random reversing camera failure
- Hum from rear differential
- Front leather seat split along the side (wear and tear.... but 60k = pathetic)
- Heated seats no longer work (failed many years ago), but randomly come on.
- Split boot on driveshaft
- 12x new ABS sensors (multiple failures over time)
